1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint
We were contacted by Tom Bruynel, who was a past president of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club of New Zealand, and the managing editor/lead writer for the book Half Century, Full Throttle published in 2024 to mark the club’s 50th anniversary. He told us about another Ruddspeed Alfa Romeo 2600 Sprint.
This one is green with the UK registration number of EG 604 and has the chassis AR-822588. It was Imported into New Zealand in 1969 by Brian Downham (Milford, Auckland) ex UK, with 60,000 miles on the clock. Converted to RHD by Ruddspeed UK. Bought by Michael Rothwell of Merivale (Christchurch) who moved to Spring Creek (Marlborough) in 1977. A poor engine rebuild had been done. Bought by Peter Beck in 1984 in drivable condition but since dismantled for restoration.
Its registration certificate states 1964 manufacture, however the chassis number 822588 places it firmly in the range of 1963 production according to Fusi (821278...824133).
Ruddspeed Serial Number: 258
